Dealing with the Squeeze
When your furnace is cramped, every millimeter counts. You can’t afford to waste an inch of space. We build our lamps to tight tolerances so you can pack more heating elements into a smaller area. This lets you crank up the total wattage without having to rebuild your entire machine frame. But here’s the real trick: we bend the quartz tubes to match the curve of your glass line. Straight lamps in curved housings always leave cold spots. By following the curve, we get rid of those gaps entirely.
It’s All About the Angle
If you’re drying glass coatings, you need heat density, and you need it fast. We use shortwave infrared because it punches through the coating quickly. But it isn’t just about the tech; it’s about the angle. If your lamp isn’t perfectly parallel to the glass, you’re going to get uneven drying and ugly defects in the coating. We shape the tubes specifically to keep a steady, constant distance from the substrate. It just works better.
The Trade-offs (The “Gotchas”)
Now, there are a few things to keep in mind. When we change the length or bend a lamp, it changes the electrical resistance. You can’t just plug them into any old power supply; you’ll need to match the power to the exact wattage of the custom build. Also, packing lamps closely together creates a lot of ambient heat. If you go high-density to save space, you’ll probably need to beef up your cooling fans and ventilation. Otherwise, you risk burning out your wiring and connectors. We’ll give you the exact dimensions and power draw upfront. That way, you can wire everything up and double-check your thermal profile before you go into full production.
